Way back when I started my foray into the fiber arts with crochet. It quickly turned into my go to for projects. I loved to make afghans, and large blankets. I got tired of having a very limited supply of yarns available. at the time I had no idea there where lys (Local yarn Store) So I had Michaels and JoAnnes. Very limited, and for the better yarns were starting to get pricy.
My beauty is currently made it through US customs, they only held it for a day, and is on the final leg towards me.
I have been finally able to crochet again since I have started spindling supported style, and I have been able to complete two projects with no extreme pain in my hands.
A success I will take gladly, though I have to spindle at least every other day or my hands start to get sore, and swell up. It is not that bad, as I get homespun to work with.
So far I have Completed these two.
Lately I have discovered Ravelry and it has brought back my love of fiber arts.
I am a long time crocheter who was forced to kick the habit due to severe pain, cramping with my hands and wrists. So for a few years no spinning, or crocheting. Was difficult but I am not one to invite unnecessary pain. However shortly after I had joined Ravelry I discovered supported spindling, I was very enthused about this new (to me) style of spinning, and jimmied a few simple homemade ones to try my hand at it.
After tons of research, some bit of drama We will be getting a spinning wheel. She wasn’t even on the consider list I had narrowed it down to an lithuanian, and a saxony. Then out of the blue she appears and wins the cake. From all appearances she needs nothing other then a loving home. And I can’t wait to learn how to use her properly.
She is a Scandinavian upright double drive tension, turn of the century wheel. I am still looking for the date and manufacturer from the little information I currently have.
Apparently it is stamped with a 76 4, no idea what it could stand for, maybe the year it was made?
Through www.nzspinningwheels.info I have found a few that look similar, but won’t be able to do more looking into till i have possession.
